Borstvoeding is de beste voeding voor een gezonde groei en ontwikkeling van je kindje. De eerste zes maanden wordt geadviseerd om enkel borstvoeding te geven. Vanaf zes maanden wordt aangeraden om naast borstvoeding ook andere voedingsmiddelen aan te bieden. Goede voeding van de moeder draagt bij aan de kwaliteit van borstvoeding. Het is mogelijk dat introductie van flesvoeding, of andere aanvullende voeding en dranken een negatief en onomkeerbaar effect op borstvoeding kan hebben. Indien je problemen ervaart bij het geven van borstvoeding of overweegt over te stappen op flesvoeding, denk dan aan de financiële en sociale implicaties en overleg met een arts of consultatiebureau. Volg altijd de bereidings- en bewaarinstructies van flesvoeding. Onzorgvuldig gebruik kan namelijk gezondheidsrisico’s met zich meebrengen.
